Is "The Jangly Man" The Worst Monster Name Ever?

Now that you’ve watched the trailer, I am actually going to answer this quickly. No, it isn’t, the worst monster name ever is “The Bye Bye Man.”

Look at this stupid fuck. ‘The Bye Bye Man’ was one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life and came in with a big-time 1/100 for me a few years back.

Don’t say it. Don’t speak it. Don’t say it. Don’t speak it.

Anyway, back to ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’, a movie that I think has some good potential. I never read the original book series, but I know fans of the franchise have been excited about what they’ve seen from trailers. That’s enough for me to buy-in… but I refuse to stand here and not make fun of the character named THE JANGLY MAN.

A combination of three classic stories from the books – “Me Tie Dough-ty Walker,” “What Do You Come For?” and “Aaron Kelly’s Bones” – the Jangly Man is one of the central monsters in director Andre Ovredal‘s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark… The Jangly Man has “the terrifying ability to tear himself apart, limb from limb.” (via Bloody Disgusting)

He actually looks horrifying as shit. They nailed the visual aspect, but, plain and simple, his name makes him sound like a ‘Blacklist’ character.

None of the character names are all that inspiring, like The Toe Monster, The Pale Lady or Harold the Scarecrow, but with The Jangly Man, they had a chance to come up with a cool horrifying creation. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball.

Nevertheless, ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’ releases in a few weeks (August 9th) and I am still looking forward to it.
