There Goes Keith Law Being A Total Douche Bag Again!

Meet Chris Silvey.  All I know about Chris Silvey is exactly what he’s tells us about himself in his Twitter Bio.

– covers baseball for Fansided
– Rangers, Steelers, Stars and Mavs fan
– Conservative politically

And guess what?  Absolutely none of that shit matters whatsoever.  By all accounts Chris is just some random guy covering baseball in his spare time, probably something he really enjoys as a creative outlet because baseball is fucking awesome.  Nothing to hate on whatsoever.

Enter ESPN’s Keith Law.  Yesterday he went OFF on Chris Silvey after Silvey called him out for this tweet:

Now I’m going to make an assumption here: Keith Law does not know who said the original quote that Mike Puma.  Law did work for the Blue Jays in a FO capacity, but that was 12+ years ago.  I think it’d also be a safe assumption that 12+ years is enough of a timeframe to not know who was exactly responsible for that quote.

Also, as a journalist, it’s pretty irresponsible to put quotation marks around something that wasn’t an actual quote.  This is where Silvey checks in:

That’s a reasonable response, no?  Or am I taking crazy pills?  There were no personal insults, he wasn’t fired up in the least, and his entire response was directed at the subject matter at hand and nothing else.

But Keith Law didn’t like it.  Not sure why, but it’s clear he didn’t in his response:

Question: what does the Chris’ twitter handle have anything to do with his response to Law’s tweet?  And to nobody’s surprise, Silvey kept it really civil with his retort.

To which Law immediately made it personal again.  The conversation was already taking a turn for this worse, but this is where it turns into a thread of non-stop douche baggery:

What a fucking asshole, huh?  It reminds me of the scene in Good Will Hunting where Sean and Will are at the pond and Sean was like “you saw one painting of mine and presumed to know everything about me and ripped my fucking life apart.”  Who gives a fuck if some guy in Texas is enjoying himself and making a few extra bucks covering baseball for a website you apparently don’t deem worthy?

But if that’s not enough for you, let’s turn back the clock to a few other instances where Keith Law made something of nothing at all (in my opinion).

    1. Keith Law calls out Braves for not including Hank Aaron in a panel of Braves players from the 1990s inducted into the Hall of Fame:

    2. Keith Law Goes Off On Chuck Garfein On White Sox Talk Podcast

    3. Keith Law insinuates Jake Arrieta is making an anti-Semitic comment on Twitter:

Take these as you will.  I personally will never, ever criticize someone for pushing social justice when injustices are taking place, but at the same time I don’t believe one should insinuate racism, homophobia, anti-semitism, etc. is present when there’s no evidence of it actually being present.
