The Crease Dive Checks In With "90% Of Lax Is In The Flow"
If you’re anywhere between the ages of, let’s say, 24-34 then there’s a good chance that the Facebook group “90% of Lax is in the Flow” meant everything to you at some point in your lacrosse playing career. For those of you who have never heard of the group before, 1) I feel truly sorry for you, and 2) it was the pinnacle of lacrosse culture during the early days of the internet. Think about the time period between when people stopped using MySpace but also before Twitter really became popular. That was the time period that 90% Of Lax truly thrived. Instagram wasn’t even invented at this point. And essentially it was just a place where people could post pictures of themselves playing lacrosse, they’d get absolutely roasted in the comment section about looking like shit, but occasionally there would be some guys who were just so goddamn flowy that you couldn’t help but respect them, and then some of those guys even turned out to be some of the best lacrosse players on the planet. It’s hard to explain because there’s nothing like it anymore, and I don’t think there will ever be anything like it again. The internet has changed way too drastically since the days of Facebook groups. So 90% Of Lax Is In The Flow will always just be a shining relic of the past.
But lucky for us, some of the boys who used to run the account are still out there among us and we were able to get a few of them to come on the podcast. We talked about how the group came to be, who are the biggest Flowbots in lacrosse today, and how the group changed the sport of lacrosse forever. I know that there are plenty of people out there in the lacrosse community who are trying to “put the lax bro culture behind us”. But it’s always important to remember andd appreciate where we’ve come from.
