MTV Has A New Show Called "Ghosted" Where You Stalk And Track Down Past Flings Who Have Ghosted You. Sounds Not Problematic At All!

E Online - From the network that brought you Catfish comes…Ghosted.

Hosted by The Bachelorette veteran Rachel Lindsay and artist Travis Mills, MTV’s Ghosted: Love Gone Missing is a new docu-series that follows the same premise as Catfish, an established MTV hit. The new series features the hosts helping distraught individuals track down and confront former lovers, family members or friends, all in an effort to get to the bottom of why these people suddenly disappeared.

I love this. Absolutely love that this show got greenlit and nobody thought it was problematic whatsoever. “Hey ok, so you know who that girl stopped talking to you, well now thanks to us, you can track her down and confront her!”. In this day and age this seems like literally the worst idea for a show of all time. Here’s my thinking- they stopped talking to you for a reason and it’s sort of not your business. It’s probably because you’re either a shithead, they found someone else, or a myriad of other reasons. Call me old fashioned but tracking them down is the last thing you should do.

And that’s why I love the old days. I can’t remember what comedian it is, but he talks about how back in the day you would set up a date and you just trusted them to be there. If you were supposed to meet at the movies at 1, and they weren’t there, you just assumed they stood you up. Something tragic could have happened and you would have no way of getting a text or anything. And then you’d just never see them again. I guess you could like, dial information or look them up in the phonebook, but then you’d have to know their parent’s name if they lived at home still, it was a whole big to-do.

Nowadays if you don’t get a text back in 10 minutes you’re checking to see if they liked a picture on IG, checking to see if they liked a tweet, doing mental gymnastics and losing sleep over who she’s hooking up with at the current moment. The old days were much simpler.

But yeah, good job guys from Catfish. Normalize stalking, this should go over well.
