Is Conor McGregor Making His Return To The UFC On December 14th?

After Justin Gaethje’s first round knockout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone on Saturday night, solidifying himself as the opponent who makes the most sense for Conor McGregor right now, most of the MMA world was waiting with bated breath for a tweet from the former two-weight world champion. McGregor has made it known over the years, and in recent months specifically, that he watches the fights every Saturday night, no matter where he is, and especially if they have implications for his weight division.

Obviously, he was watching on Saturday night, and despite Justin Gaethje claiming the Irishman was “retired” in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, we all know he wasn’t serious about that.

Gaethje wants McGregor just as bad as anybody would, and probably would’ve gotten him this Summer had Conor not broken his hand sparking some amateur out cold in training. Now that Gaethje just scored a highlight reel finish over Cowboy, though, I think this psychopath is finally due for a “Red Panty Night”.

Conor seems to want the bout to go down in Dublin on December 14th, a date the UFC has already reserved for a pay-per-view in Vegas, so we’ll see what happens, but I do believe this date to be a pretty decent possibility as the “Return of the King”. It was rumored as the date even before Conor tweeted this, and despite the geographical differences in what both sides have planned, I don’t think it’ll take long to come to a deal. Conor is fucking EAGER to get back in there right now.

If I’m Dana, I book McGregor/Gaethje and Khabib/Ferguson, and have the winners fight the winners and the losers fight the losers after that. Don’t think you’ll see anybody objecting to the matchups a mini-tourney like that would produce!
