I Don't Think The New NESN Logo Is All That Bad But I HATE Their New Twitter Personality
NESN unveiled their new logo yesterday and, as you can expect, people were FURIOUS. Just hated the hell out of it. Hated it so much that they took to Twitter to say they hated it. I know, I could hardly believe it myself.
But the fact of the matter is it’s fine. It’s whatever. Yeah, it kinda looks like an abstract logo for a ski mountain (in fact it looks a lot like Sugarbush) or a logo for a news network in a TV show, but it’s fine. In two weeks you’ll be watching the Bruins and thinking, “wait what was the old NESN logo?” then you’ll remember it was a ticket and it was absolutely time for a new one. No matter what it changed to it was gonna suck because it’s change and we’re humans so we hate that. Doesn’t matter if it’s Twitter changing it’s home page or NESN getting a new logo or your mom’s new friend Ron, we don’t like things that are different from what we’re used to until we’re used to them. You’ll get used to Mt. NESN shortly.
What I will NOT get used to, however, is the new Twitter personality that NESN unveiled with this new logo. I fucking hate it. They’re trying to be one of those brands that tweet like a person and it absolutely does not work for the New England Sports Network. They’re tweeting emojis and jokes and caps locks and giving snarky responses to users and it all reeks of your dad saying a new song is lit. It’s so very “how do you do fellow kids”? You’re the official NESN account, please just tweet the link to the recap of the Bruins game and don’t make me uncomfortable.
