Boston Strong Concert Lineup Announced
BOSTON (CBS) – A huge benefit concert was announced on Friday for the victims fund of the Boston Marathon bombings. The ‘Boston Strong’ concert is set to take place on May 30 at the TD Garden. The all-star line-up includes Aerosmith, Jason Aldean, Boston, Jimmy Buffett, Extreme, J Geils Band, Godsmack, Carole King, New Kids On The Block, James Taylor, and comedians Dane Cook and Steven Wright, along with other special guests. Aerosmith is returning from Singapore to participate in the concert. “Boston’s gonna (expletive) rock that night!” NKOTB’s Donnie Wahlberg said during the news conference to announced the show.
Hmmmmm. Interesting lineup we got here. The good ones are obvious. Aerosmith, Aldean, Boston, Buffett, J. Geils, New Kids, James Taylor, Steven Wright. All worth the price of admission. As for the others, I don’t know who Carole King and Extreme are but I’m sure they’re better than Dane Cook. Which leaves one elephant in the room: Godsmack? Like, the Godsmack, Godsmack? What the fuck are they gonna do there? Iiiiiiiii…. STAND ALONE!!! No you don’t dude, it’s a benefit concert. We stand as one. Having these maniacs on stage is gonna be weirder than Kanye in his skirt. I honestly didn’t even know they were still alive let alone making music.
I kind of pictured the Boston Strong benefit concert to be a spirited and upbeat affair, not sure why you need to work the alt-metal, hard rock, post-grunge group into the set just because they’re from the same state.
PS – why say “Special Guests”? It’s Marky Mark. Everyone know that. 10000000% chance Marky Mark is at this show.
UPDATE: Oh shit! I know this Extreme song! “More Than Words” is great. But I had no idea who sings it because I’m not 40.
