A 20-Year Old Uses A McLovin Fake ID To Get Into A Bar, Promptly Gets Arrested Because, You Know, It's McLovin

[Source] – A man who police said was in a downtown Iowa City bar while underage was arrested on Friday, and allegedly was carrying a fake driver’s license featuring the likeness of a movie character.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Johnson County District Court, Burleson was approached by an Iowa City Police officer at around 12:31 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019. The officer said that he saw an alcoholic drink in Burleson’s hand and that he told the officer that the drink contained vodka.

Burleson initially refused to show the officer any identification, but later allegedly revealed an ID card that showed he was under 21-years-old. The officer said he then asked Burleson for a fake ID, and he told the officer he did not have one. While Burleson was flipping through his wallet, the officer spotted a Hawaii ID with the name “McLovin DOB 06/03/1981.”

What a move. Really what a move by all parties involved. You have this guy 20-years old using a McLovin fake ID. The bar lets him in and gets him a drink. That just shows how little people really care about fake IDs, especially if you’re around a college. For the most part this is the security process

Here’s the annoying thing. He’s not doing anything wrong. He’s just hanging out in a bar drinking. We need to make an amendment to the 21-year old drinking legal age. If you’re in a bar and not making a scene, you can’t get arrested. You get past security with your McLovin ID, you get to drink until you get out of control. It’s on you for not being an asshole at that point.

I need to know more about the McLovin decision here. Did he do it just to be funny? Just to see if it would work? I don’t HATE that move. I’m all for Superbad references – it’s arguably the best comedy of the 2000s. Using an outdated reference for a fake ID is a bit of a crazy move though, especially with how easy it is to get a fake ID.

Either way, I stand by my take that McLovin pt. 2 should be free of charges.
