Orlando Scandrick, Who Is A Very Bad Football Player, Just Went On Undisputed To Bash The Shit Out Of The Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles v Dallas Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense this year sucks. You know it, I know it, the whole world knows it. Part of the reason why this defense is so goddamn awful is because their corners are trash. And one of those trash corners up until this week was Orlando Scandrick, who was cut after the Dallas game. Presumably because of this horrific display of attempted tackling on Tavon Austin, among other completely irrelevant moments he has had in Philadelphia.

When all is said and done, Orlando Scandrick will be somebody who Eagles fans say to themselves, “oh shit! That’s right! I totally forgot that Orlando Scandrick was an Eagle”. He’s like the guy at a party who you forget if he was ever there or not. So by all accounts, nobody should ever care about what Orlando Scandrick has to say. But considering Skip Bayless is the biggest Cowboys fanboy on the planet and is a jackass who will do whatever he can to try to tear down the Eagles, he brought Orlando Scandrick onto his show today. And that’s where Scandrick decided to let it all fly.

Now let me say this right now. This is a chicken shit move through and through. By Skip and by Orlando. It’s also about as unprofessional as it gets. This is just Orlando Scandrick sounding like a clown who is crying because he just got broken up with. But here it is for yourself to decide.

My biggest concern after watching that is…well…listen I don’t think that a lot of what he said is necessarily wrong. I don’t exactly love the Howie character bashing but I’m not even totally on board with Howie right now so I’m not super up in arms about that. The biggest thing here is that Orlando Scandrick didn’t say a single bad thing about Carson. He said that some guys in the locker room still might be wishing that Foles was around but Scandrick never bashed Carson. If he fell into Skip’s trap and talked some shit on Carson Wentz, then we would have a legitimate issue here. But Carson Wentz is the least of the Eagles’ problems right now and I’m glad that Orlando Scandrick didn’t decide to just spew some bullshit about how he can’t be the leader of this team.

Next up he said that there were some selfish players on that Eagles defense, obviously referring to Malcolm Jenkins. And you know what? I don’t totally disagree. I think that Malcolm Jenkins has done a ton of great things for this organization and a ton of great things for this league. But I also don’t think that Malcolm Jenkins is at a point where you can’t question some of the decisions he makes. I think maybe he might feel a little cornered with the defense taking so much of the blame for this season but still, I don’t view him nearly as much of the leader of this team as I have in the past. And even if he’s not just talking about Malcolm, I think there are at least a handful of players in that locker room that are “me” guys through and through.

He also said that this organization is struggling with handling success. And again, I agree with that. Remember when Doug Pederson said that “this is our new norm” at the Super Bowl parade? Well yeah, they haven’t been able to figure that one out yet. I don’t know why they haven’t but they just haven’t. For some reason this team really only shows up when their backs are against the wall and counted out. And I get that it’s a lot easier to use that “us against the world” mentality for motivation that it is to motivate yourself when everybody has you picked to be a Super Bowl contender. But that’s the difference between a team that wins one Super Bowl and just disappears, and a dynasty.

So my issue here isn’t really with anything that Orlando Scandrick said. It’s just that he went on Skip’s show immediately after getting cut to air all this out on national tv. That’s a gutless move for anybody to make, especially somebody who did next to nothing while they were here. His self-awareness was at an all-time low, but I also think that there’s at least a shred of truth to everything he was saying. Which sucks, but hopefully a chicken shit move like this is something the current team can rally around.
