Ryan Pace: "Mitch Trubisky Has Got To Play Better"

(SOURCE)

Bears general manager Ryan Pace may have the most to lose if quarterback Mitch Trubisky fails. He did, after all, move up one spot in the 2017 NFL draft to select Trubisky, who was the first quarterback chosen from a pool of prospects that included Houston's DeShaun Watson and Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes. Through six games of the 2019 season, Pace can't be feeling great about his hand-picked franchise quarterback. Trubisky has been the target of criticism around the league and is considered by many to be one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Not good. "Matt (Nagy) said it all week -- Mitch has got to play better," Pace said Sunday morning on the team's flagship radio station, WBBM 780. "Mitch knows that. But there's a lot of areas on offense that we want to play better in. It's not just the quarterback."

Where is the fucking accountability in this goddamn organization!!!  Of course Mitch needs to play better, that goes without say, but at this point it's asking for way too much.  If he turned into just an average NFL QB then we'd be happy.  That's probably not ever going to happen though, at least not with any consistency.  That shipped has sailed.

But... he didn't draft himself #2 overall.

Ryan Pace did.  And guess what?  He could show some accountability by going out and getting a QB before tomorrow's deadline and try to salvage this season.  Now I know that is 99% not happening as it'd just be admitting defeat in one of the biggest fuck ups in recent Chicago sports history, but hope springs eternal.  Mitch ain't the answer, especially when paired with someone who has officially exposed himself as one of the worst play callers in the NFL in Matt Nagy.  Oh, and it SUCKS watching guys like Matt Moore on KC look competent last night and Jacoby Brissett lighting it up all year long.  Salt in the wound, and I'm not even talking about Watson or Mahomes at this point.

We just talked about it on our Red Line Radio Bears post game show that dropped a few minutes ago.

From Pace to Nagy, there hasn't been any accountability in this three week stretch from hell that has made every Bears fan on earth turn on the entire coaching staff and now the front office as well.  Like... we legit asked each other if there should be a change at GM following this season.  Again.  That'd be their 4th GM since 2012.  New guy, Pace, Emery, Angelo.  Gross.  I'm not at that point yet, not even that close truthfully, but to hand pick Mitch Trubisky and pair him with Matt Nagy is just awful.

It's like he loaded the bases with three missiles with how he assembled the defense but struck out twice in his next two at bats with the Trubisky draft pick and Nagy hire.  He's down to his last out and needs to come up with a bases clearing gapper now.  No other choice.

This organization is so goddamn snakebitten.  I don't know what it is but we suck.

If you're in the same spot as me, don't read this blog from Ed.
