Here's A Very Simple And Easy Solution To The NBA's Load Management Problem
Everywhere you look, people are talking about "load management this" or "load management that". Folks just can't help themselves when it comes to complaining about players taking nights off since the NBA regular season doesn't really matter and they want to save themselves for the playoffs. And I get it. I do. You don't want to shell out a few hundred dollars on tickets for the family and then when you show up to the game, Kawhi Leonard is just bullshitting around in a suit because he couldn't give less of a shit about a game in early November. I mean is it a little self-centered to think that these guys should have to play just because you purchased a ticket? Absolutely. But everybody thinks that they're the main character in their own story so I get why some people might think that way.
So if everybody is so up in arms about load management in the NBA, well then how do we fix this problem? I'm not a fan of people who just bitch about an issue but don't offer up any sort of solution themselves, so here goes my crack at this one.
It's super simple, actually. All you have to do is force all the NBA players to be hockey players and then they'll never voluntarily miss another game for the rest of their career. I mean just look at old ass Joe Thornton. Dude is like 75 years old and he's still busting his ass out there every minute of every shift of every game. You think Jumbo Joe gives a fuck about load management? At least not the type that we're talking about here. You'd have to rip his legs clean off of his body and maybe chop his head off as well for Joe Thornton to say "okay maybe I won't play tonight". That's just how hockey players are.
