It Sure Sounds Like Chris Paul Hates Daryl Morey's Guts
"Do you feel like there’s been times where, “Damn, that’s a little eye-opening. I got stabbed in the back”?
"Absolutely. This last situation was one of them. The GM there in Houston, he don’t owe me nothing. You know what I mean? He may tell me one thing but do another thing. But you just understand that that’s what it is."
I'm pretty sure Chris Paul knows the name of "the GM there in Houston". Classic tell when a guy is a little upset when you start to referring to someone and don't use their name. He could have said Daryl Morey, we all know it was Daryl Morey, so this tells me Paul is a little upset about how the whole thing went down.
In terms of stabbing him in the back, that's where things get complicated. Because on one hand Morey made it clear that every single player on the roster was available
Then there were reports that Harden and Paul hated each other and Harden wanted him gone
but this was all going down in May/June after the Rockets choked so you didn't know what to believe. It seemed silly at the time that they would break up Paul/Harden since they were so good when everyone was healthy, and then Daryl came out and said there was no way Chris Paul wouldn't start the season in HOU
As we know about a month later Chris Paul found himself in OKC. Not great! Considering he's in win now mode and the Thunder were rebuilding you could understand why Paul might hold a grudge, especially if OKC doesn't flip him to MIA or something in about a month. The silver lining I guess is that OKC isn't as terrible as many thought when this all went down in July, but I would love to know when this episode was filmed. How soon after the trade did this all go down where the wounds sound this fresh?
Safe to say Chris Paul won't be inviting Morey to any of his holiday parties, and speaking of holiday parties did you know we're currently running a 20% off sale on all ugly sweaters? You do now and you should buy some
