Stop Me If You've Heard This Before, But Connor McDavid And Leon Draisaitl Are Sick Bastards
The Edmonton Oilers went out and shit pumped the Colorado Avalanche last night by a score of 6-2. That's not necessarily too surprising. The Oilers are currently tied for 1st place in the Western Conference (Colorado is right there in 3rd) and the Avs are dealing with injuries to Landeskog and Rantanen. Almost less surprising than the 6-2 final is that Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl led the way for Edmonton.
6 goals on the night for Edmonton. McDavid had a hat trick and 3 assists (2 of them being primary assists), and Draisaitl had 5 assists on the night. 11 total points between them in a 6-2 win. And the only goal that Draisaitl didn't record an assist on, he was the only other player who touched the puck here and didn't end up on the scoresheet.
He was a deflection to McDavid away from both of these animals have 6-point nights. And if you thought that goal #1 of the night for McDavid was spicy, his 2nd goal of the period was even juicier.
All 3 of McDavid's goals were on the powerplay and then Oilers went 4-for-6 on the night with the man advantage. So yeah, I'd say that it is highly ill-advised to take a penalty against this team. Just look at these sick bastards right now. 21 games into the season and Leon Drasaitl has at least 10 more points than anybody else in the league besides McDavid.
By the way, only 3 of the top 10 point scorers in the league right now are over the age of 25. Just in case anybody forgot how loaded the NHL is with young talent right now. But it's just insanity what these two are doing right now. Here's a little fun fact for all you boys and girls back home:
There have only been 2 games this season when neither McDavid nor Draisaitl ended up on the scoresheet. In both of those games, the Oilers were shutout (10/20 @ Winnipeg and 10/22 @ Minnesota). But in every game so far this season that the Edmonton Oilers have got on the board, either McDavid or Draisaitl had a point. And more often than not, they both have, considering those two shutouts were the only games so far that Draisaitl hasn't had a point. 21 games and he's had a point in all of them except for the 2 when they got shutout. I really hope you guys appreciate how fucking absurd that is. And oh yeah, that was McDavid's 2nd hat trick of the week. Fucking sick bastards.
By the way, it was also a beauty of a night for Zack Kassian. He had a massive hit on MacKinnon--and a fight--on the first shift of the game.
He had another massive hit on JT Compher later in the 2nd period.
And he also got himself on the scoresheet with this goal that eventually ended up being the game winner. Who had the assists on the goal? McDavid and Draisaitl.
Again, Colorado is getting fucked with injuries a quarter of the way through the season but this was a big time statement game from the Edmonton Oilers. This is a full blown wagon that doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. And I know it's still not even Thanksgiving but this is just so bizarre to see.
