Kelly Slater Is 47 And Still Ripping Up Some Perfect 10 Rides

In case you forgot, surfing is making its Olympic debut this summer in Tokyo. Kelly Slater and John John Florence are battling for the last US spot for 2020. It's crazy because I don't know what is more shocking. The fact that John John Florence is still only 27-years-old or that Kelly Slater is 47. John John has been around seemingly forever since he first got onto the scene when he was just 13. So we've seen this guy competing at the highest level now for 14 years and somehow he's still under 30.
Meanwhile, I feel like Kelly Slater is ageless at this point. I mean I know he's getting older since he's had a few injuries that have been building up over the last few years. But in my mind, Kelly Slater is always like 32 at most. But no. The man is 47-years-old and with a trip to the Olympics on the line, this sick bastard went out and scored a perfect 10 on a backdoor barrel at Pipeline. If there was ever a sign that the Surf Gods need Kelly Slater to be riding in the first Olympic surf tournament...
What a freak. 11 time World Champ. Competing in his 27th Pipe Masters. If this man isn't surfing in the Olympics, we riot.
Sidenote: I feel truly awful for anybody who never got to experience Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer. What a game and what an even better soundtrack.
