Kevin Hayes Is A Freak. He's The Greatest Hockey Player Ever Born
The Philadelphia Flyers beat the piss out of the Buffalo Sabres last night. Made them look like an ECHL team for the most part. No offense to the Coast, it's just that Biz was a 2x All Star. Granted, the Sabres didn't have Jack Eichel since it seems like Jacky Boy came down with a case of the Philly Flu last night. But still. The Sabres sent out an NHL roster and the Flyers put 6 goals past them just over 30 minutes into the game. By every sense of the word, it was a pure shit pumping.
Most of that was thanks to The Best One. The Dorchester Rocket. Kevin Patrick Hayes.
Hayes got his night started late in the 1st period with this beauty of a feed to Jimmy van Riemsdyk right on the doorstep.
That's a Double Chiclets Bump right there. And while the no-scope behind the back pass was a work of art, the best part about this goal is how he completely abused Conor Sheary behind the net before toying with Sheary on the feed. That poor guy, man. What a devastating week it's been for Conor Sheary. Not only did he have to get dunked on by The Best One last night, but he also got danced by Auston Matthews earlier in the week.
Poor guy has been on the receiving end of too much American-on-American crime this week. But this isn't a blog about Conor Sheary. This is a blog about how Kevin Hayes is the most underpaid $7 million man in the NHL. Because less than 2 minutes after that assist to JvR, Hayes set up this Globetrotter goal for Matt Niskanen on the powerplay.
HAVE MERCY!!!!
Niskanen from Hayes from Niskanen from Hayes. Both of these guys deserve to get 2 points on the scoresheet for that one. And Zemgus Girgensons,,,,buddy,,,,maybe see if you can healthy scratch yourself for a couple of weeks after that one. Not only did Girgensons get that first pass from Hayes to Niskanen wrapped right around him like he wasn't even there, but then Hayes snatches his ankles with that little fake shot the 2nd go around before dishing it over to Niskanen again for the empty net. This play was equal parts silly and rude from Hayes. And to think some people out there thought the Flyers overpaid this guy.
P.S. - Rasmus Dahlin may want to rethink getting on the Flyers' bad side this early in his career. He's still just 19-years-old. It would be a real shame if he just signed himself up to get bullied by the Flyers for the next decade of his life because he was upset about his team sucking.
P.P.S. - What a speech from Jimmy van Reemer. Goosebumps. Maybe the most motivating hockey speech since Herb Brooks.
