God fucking dammit. Just when I thought tonight couldn't get any more embarrassing as a Knicks fan with the Knicks being rumored to be interested in trading for Andre Drummond before getting soundly beaten at home by the Pelicans, a video like this comes out and completely obliterates my soul. Only the Knicks could fuck up an electric moment like a fan hitting a halfcourt shot with such an outlandish prize.
I know that dude was excited when he hit a half court heave in The World's Most Famous Arena because adrenaline just takes over when a shot like that goes down anywhere, let alone in front of thousands of people at MSG. But that happiness is going to fade away quickly once reality sets in that he may never shoot a basketball again after his wrist explodes after scratching off A THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of scratch off tickets and grinding his lucky quarter to dust.

I know there is a chance this guy can win for life because that dream is what keeps me coming back to the scratch off machine whenever a new scratch off game catches my eyes (usually one that is modeled after a gameshow or a board game. And fuck that crossword puzzle noise). But the odds are this guy is going to win $8 for his half court shot, try to turn that $8 back into a thousand by trading his winners in because you pretty much have to, throw away the full garbage pail worth of loser tickets he has accumulated, and then go to the doctor to see what he can do about the silver lung he contracted because he had silver scratch off shavings up to his eyeballs from scratching off a shitload of loser tickets in his New York City apartment. What type of prize for hitting a half court shot is $1000 in scratchies for a New York franchise anyway? I could see if this was the G-League or even somewhere like Oklahoma City. But the New York fucking Knicks gotta do a hell of a lot better than $1000 in cash let alone $1000 in scratch offs for a half court shot, especially since the Lakers jusssssst gave away $100 grand for the same goddamn shot earlier this week.
Oh yeah and in case all of that wasn't sad enough, the Knicks actually cut out the end of the video early so it sounds like the fan won $1000 instead of $1000 worth of scratch offs.
