Details About The True Detective Season 2 Plot Revealed
MVTVSV – Plot details have been revealed for True Detective season 2 along with the news that TV network HBO is considering Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss for the female lead. Following the news earlier today that Vince Vaughn is in talks for a lead role in the second season of Nic Pizzolatto’s small screen crime drama, The Wrap has revealed the storyline. “The second season of True Detective will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt City Manager of a fictional California city who’s found brutally murdered amidst a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change the freeway gridlock in California. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought. Caspar’s 52-year-old corpse is found on a lonely stretch of the PCH near Big Sur – his eye burned out, genitals cut off and satanic symbols etched on his chest. It turns out he had a penchant for rough sex and may have been involved in the occult.”
Supposedly, of course. Like everything with these True Detective rumors, you don’t know whats real and whats not. But I hope this is real. Or at least something like it. Because that first description Pizzolatto gave – “its about hard women and the United States transportation system” – sounded like a snoozefest. But a dude with his eyeballs burned out, dick chopped off, and some potential government conspiracy sounds a lot more like the murder mystery that roped us in to season 1.
That first description from Pizzolatto would have been like him describing season 1 as “misogynistic men and the Louisiana State Police Department.” Technically, yea, thats true. But it was really about a cult of murderers ritualistically killing women in gruesome fashion and the cover ups that went on to protect them. Well these additional details about season 2 sound a lot more in line with that. Obviously I didn’t think True Detective Season 2 was going to chronicle the expansion of the locomotive, but I’m just happy to see the weird, dark, kinky, gruesome vibe isn’t going anywhere.
Still think the fact that women are a huge focus simply because of backlash from season 1 is dumb, but whatever.
