Cyril's Loses Its Liquor License
Page Six – Popular Amagansett seafood shack and bar Cyril’s Fish House lost a big battle after the New York State Liquor Authority voted to revoke its liquor license. The agency voted Tuesday to yank the license, which expires in October, citing building and health violations against the roadside restaurant, which is popular at sunset and famed for its potent “B.B.C.” Baileys Banana Colada cocktail. Owner Cyril Fitzsimons told us, “I don’t know what the hell’s up. The police have never been called once in 23 years.” The ex-Marine is convinced East Hampton authorities are trying to push him out. “Three years the town has been after me. Maybe they don’t like Republicans or Vietnam vets.” He plans to appeal.
Well this fucking sucks. I dont even really like bananas and I could suck down like 10 BBCs (Have fun with that one, comment section) I don’t understand these Hamptons spots that insist on shutting down these bars. I understand they’re all bougie assholes who just want private beaches and peace and quiet but come on, man. This is a little seafood shack that serves frozen drinks under the sunset. I actually dont even know why its so fun. Everyone just stands around in a lot of gravel crushing banana drinks and for some reason its a blast. Its harmless. Its not like there’s ever been violence or any problems as far as I know. The owner is a Marine vet and the people love the place. Why can’t you just leave this one alone?
And don’t give me that bullshit about health code violations and shit. If you told people there were cockroaches in the BBCs they’d still drink em and they’d still want Cyrils to be open. I’m not naive enough to say that closing these spots will ever really kill the Hamptons or anything like that. But you shut down The Drift and you shut down places like Cyril’s and a lot of these spot start to lose their appeal. Rentals go down, any appeal to younger property owners goes down. I hope these bougie Hamptonites are happy when they’re all alone on their empty beaches and their towns are completely desolate and devoid of fun.
