Worldwide Wes Is Reportedly NOT Going To Join The Knicks Front Office After All
The Athletic- After internal discussions with the New York Knicks occurred about the possibility of “Worldwide Wes” joining the franchise in a front office role alongside player agent Leon Rose, William Wesley is no longer expected to join the franchise in any formal capacity, league sources have told The Athletic.
Rose’s business partner Wesley, better known as “Worldwide Wes” around the NBA has worked in multiple ventures and in the shadows of the industry for years. He has had a longstanding partnership with Rose, who as a player agent at Creative Artists Association represents players such as Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Karl Anthony-Towns, Carmelo Anthony and Kyle Kuzma. It is believed that the Knicks would surely have a position for Wesley should he have an interest in a front-office role, but that his other business ventures make a formal title unlikely.
God fucking dammit. Like most people, I don't know exactly what Worldwide Wes does and I'm not sure anyone other than Wes truly does. But I do know that guys that work "in the shadows of the industry for years" are super important for the success of organizations that employ them because that's how the world works. You think Varys and Littlefinger climbed the ladder of success escalator in Thrones by mistake? Fuck no. They did it by making connections and pulling strings. Worldwide Wes was gonna be that dude for the Knicks with Leon Rose calling the shots as Team President along with whoever got hired as coach and GM. It would take a gargantuan effort from James Dolan to fuck up that power combo in today's NBA.
Instead the Knicks came up short in the front office just like they did in free agency and the lottery.

Of course this makes perfect sense! Littlefinger and Varys weren't walking around with house logos on their clothes. They stayed in the shadows and well out of sight of the Powers That Be like Cersei or in this case Adam Silver to stay off the radar. You can't be Worldwide if you are anchored to New York. Wes is gonna be tampering like a motherfucker for his buddy Leon Rose except it won't technically be tampering because he isn't on the team payroll. Magic Johnson but without the rings and the million watt smile.
