Coronavirus Forces Disney To Delay Mulan, New Mutants (Again) But Not Black Widow
Well, the list continues to grow.
The glaring addition to the "DELAYED" column for movies is obviously 'The New Mutants'. It has been delayed so many fucking times. First, it was going to be released on April 13th, 2018, then August 2nd, 2019, then February 22nd, 2019, then April 3rd, 2020 and now, once again, it has been delayed to an undisclosed date this year. I have never rooted so hard for a movie before... it looks possibly pretty solid too!
Meanwhile, 'Mulan' makes sense as it is expected to be a heavy, heavy money-maker for Disney. Not everyone has loved the live-action remakes, but they sure do make a shit load of cash for the company. They also delayed the release of the horror-thriller 'Antlers' from producer Guillermo del Toro.
HERE'S A QUESTION: Why not just release these things on Disney+? Especially 'The New Mutants', which might benefit from a huge bump in the press if it is even remotely good. It doesn't seem likely, though...
Maybe the thought process changes, but, regardless, I really think Disney should pull the trigger there.
All attention now shifts to Marvel's 'Black Widow' and DC's 'Wonder Woman 1984':
- 03/20: 'A Quiet Place Part II' DELAYED
- 03/27: 'Mulan' DELAYED
- 04/03: 'The New Mutants' DELAYED
- 04/24: 'No Time To Die' DELAYED
- 05/01: 'Black Widow'
- 05/22: 'F9: The Fast Saga' DELAYED
- 06/05: 'Wonder Woman 1984'
As of now…
…but when you want to talk about a cash cow, Disney delaying their first Marvel movie since last summer has to be on the table right now.
