Watch Nick Offerman Explain How He Became Ron Swanson After Trying Out For Michael Scott And Then Eating 2 Cheeseburgers A Day

(Starts at 3:06 mark)

Nick Offerman is breaking down his famous characters in this video, but let's be honest, we all just care about Ron Swanson. It's no secret that Parks and Rec is one of the best TV shows of all time and Ron Swanson is an absolutely legendary character.

I don't know if I missed it, never heard of it, forgot it or what, but I had no idea that Offerman tried out for Michael Scott too. There's been a heavy hitter of actor and actresses lined up to try out for Office characters and it's crazy to think of how the show would be with someone like Offerman instead of Steve Carell there.

At the same time, I can't picture Nick Offerman as anything besides Ron Swanson. Call me simple-minded, but that's who he is. Carell will always be Michael Scott no matter how hard he tries, Jason Alexander will always be Costanza, Courtney Cox will always be Monica, etc. It just happens, especially when you look at comedies. Even weirder than Offerman as Michael Scott is the fact that he was going to be Rashida Jones love interest in Parks and Rec. Sure, hindsight is 20/20 but that just seems ... wrong? Would Rob Lowe be a different character? Would he even be on the show?

I also love him saying they wanted him to be beefy so he just ate two cheeseburgers a day. Very Ron Swanson-esque.

PS: Shout out Rashida Jones. Jim should have picked you over Pam.
