Fuuuucccckkkkk: Now There's 'A Significant Amount Of Pessimism' About Whether The NBA Season Is Going To Continue
I know this isn't necessarily shocking but part of this quarantine and new life we're living is holding onto a glimmer of hope. There was a glimmer of hope that the NBA would find a way to play some of its season - at least go to a Tournament setting in a bubble or all in Vegas, whatever. There were a bunch of ideas floated around out there trying to come up with ways to play some games.
But now it's sounding more and more like this just isn't going to happen. It's done. It sucks. It all just sucks. It's been a few weeks now and it's still just so bizarre not to have sports in our lives. That was always the one constant. You could always count on sports - even if your teams suck, you could at least count on being able to watch them. Now? It's just replays and horse racing. It's scrolling Netflix and trying to find something new to watch but just putting on The Office or New Girl for the 100th time.
It should be noted that they aren't officially canceling just yet. They are still holding out hope, but this is the first time we've heard significant pessimism. Like I said, they've tried getting creative with different ways to play some games. Personally? I love the idea of the single game Tournament out in Vegas before a few best of 3s to determine a winner. Make it AAU style with games going on at the same time or the NCAA Tournament with day time games. Again, I know it's a long shot, but it would be awesome.
Please come back soon, sports.
