Rory McIlroy Wins The PGA Championship For His Second Major In A Row And Fourth Total
I mean, what else is there to say about Rory McIlroy at this point? He is on an absolutely ridiculous run. Three wins in a row, two of them majors and almost $5 million in winnings. No-doubt #1 player in the world. Dominating his sport in likes we haven’t seen since you know who. Having sex with smokes on smokes on smokes. Pretty good I guess. And by that I of course mean fucking unbelievable. Breaking off his engagement was the best career move an athlete has made in a long time. The crazy part is Rory didn’t look all that great on the front 9 of today’s round. He never totally fell off but at one point it looked like he wasn’t going to come back. It wasn’t until the shot on 10 (one of the greatest shots you’ll ever see and will keep seeing as the years go by like Phil’s shot through the tress at Augusta and Bubba’s bending shot also at Augusta) that he got back on track and ended up shooting 5 under over his last 12 holes on his way to victory. It helped that Rickie and Phil faltered down the stretch and opened the door for Rory. He doesn’t need much help these days and when he gets it, he wins. So here we are. 25 years old 4 majors and a green jacket away from a career grand slam for Rory McIlroy and it kinda feels like we’re just getting started. My golf boner on a hundred thousand trillion right now.
Besides all of the praise that should rightfully be heaped on top of Rory, that was an unreal final round and a great Saturday and Sunday for golf in general. You couldn’t ask for a better final round than there was today. I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun watching a golf tournament and I like watching golf. Rory, Rickie and Phil exchanging haymakers all day and the lead changing hands multiple tomes or being tied for most of the day. Three marquee players gunning for a major. Awesome. Doesn’t get much better than that. The PGA Tour officials had to have an equally if not bigger golf boner than I did. Weird finish with it getting dark because of the rain delay and basically playing the 18th hole of a major as a foursome with Phil and Rickie. Still awesome. It’ll fall by the way side but hell of a year for Rickie Fowler in majors. Gotta believe he’ll get one at some point. Oh and all of the people who say golf isn’t exciting when Tiger isn’t in contention can suck my left nut. If you didn’t enjoy today then you’re the worst. Such a great way to finish off the season of majors. Now it sucks we don’t get another major until April. Oh well. It goes without saying all of the hype will be on Rory when it’s time to tee it up at Augusta.
