Chris Borland gave back almost half a million dollars????

Alright Chris, enough is enough, this is fucking stupid. I appreciated you walking away from Football on your own terms. That was a cool move that clearly had a tremendous amount of forethought and introspection. But this, this I can’t agree with. Why? Well because there is a simple rule in life that I learned a long time ago and it goes like this. Having more money is ALWAYS better than having less money. Pretty easy right? Well I guess not for everyone. And I know some people will say it’s the right thing to do, and he’s walking away so he should pay the team back. Fuck that. Guaranteed money is guaranteed for a reason. Does the team pay a player the full contract after he get injured or when he gets too old and expensive? No, they cut him and let him walk. The 49ers would never do the same given the circumstances, no chance. So if I’m a player I’m pissed at this, it sets an awful precedent. You signed a bonus that was guaranteed, that’s your money, you should keep it or if you really want to help, donate it to brain research, but don’t give it back to the Niners, that makes no sense whatsoever.

This may sound crazy and I’m sure I’ll be accused of giving a “HOT TAKE” but I still think Borland and even Willis stay if Harbaugh is still the Coach. When all is said and done the 49ers siding with Baalke over Harbaugh will be one of the worst football decisions of all time.

QUICK UPDATE – Was told the Niners would have taken him to court over the money, I know that would have sucked but I still would have gone that route. NFLPA should have asked him to fight it out, don’t let the precedent be set.
