Tiger Fires His Swing Coach Presumably Because Sean Foley Likes To Button Every Button On His Shirt

Golf ChannelTiger Woods and swing coach Sean Foley have decided to part ways, ending a rocky four-year run that saw Woods rise and fall out of the world No. 1 ranking, win eight times on the PGA Tour but fail to add to his major haul, and sustain injuries to his knee, Achilles’ tendon, elbow and back. In a statement released on his website Monday, Woods thanked Foley and wished him the best going forward. “Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him,” Woods said. “With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.” Woods gave no indication about whom he would hire next and said “there is no timetable for hiring one.” His next swing coach will be his fourth as a pro, following the tenures of Butch Harmon (1993-2003), Hank Haney (2004-10) and Foley, with whom Woods began working publicly at the 2010 PGA Championship. Coincidentally, their last event together was the PGA four years later, where Woods shot rounds of 74-74 to miss the cut. A week later, he announced that he wouldn’t play again competitively until December. At the time, he said the time away would allow his ailing back to properly heal and strengthen. It appears now that the move was also made so that Woods could sort out his swing.

So this news just came out.  Tiger deciding to fire his swing coach Sean Foley and, for the time being, going without a coach.  Interesting move.  Since it’s totally his swing coaches fault that Tiger keeps getting hurt over and over and over again.  It’s also Sean Foley’s fault that Tiger still wants to swing like he’s 28 instead of 38.  That’s really what this whole thing boils down to.  Tiger can’t seem to come to grips with the fact that his body fucking sucks now.  It betrays him at every turn.  He wants to contort his body and swing out of his ass when that’s a recipe for tweaking your back and having to WD from tournaments.  And then he tries to come back too early from the injury, pulls the same shit with his swing and it’s one vicious cycle that I’m not sure he’s ever going to get out of.  Too much pride from the guy who won 14 majors but hasn’t won one since 2008.  Until he understands he’s not the same guy he was in the mid-2000’s nothing any swing coach can do is going to magically make him start winning again.  I don’t know if this latest firing of Sean is just his way of lashing out and blaming some one or what.  All I know is that at this moment in time it feels like we’re a million miles away from Tiger ever being a real threat on the PGA Tour and that sucks a lot.

But really, it is Sean Foley’s fault for buttoning every button on his shirt.  Get it together man.  If that’s why Tiger fired him then I say fair game.  Just a terrible look.
