Will Lane Kiffin Be Left On The Tarmac After Ole Miss Plays USC In 2025?
Big scheduling news in college football as Ole Miss & USC agreed to a home & home in 2025-2026. I get the financial benefits behind playing neutral site games, but nothing is better than home & homes.
This, of course, will be a homecoming of sorts for Lane Kiffin.
Who can forget Lane Kiffin's last night as a USC coach? After losing to Arizona State, USC literally left Lane Kiffin on the tarmac:
The question now is whether or not Lane Kiffin will be around at Ole Miss for 2025. Let's look at the timeline that will get him there:
To get to Southern Cal, Lane Kiffin will have to be at Ole Miss for at least 5 years. Although trends are changing a bit as schools are moving on from coaches much quicker than before, let's assume Kiffin will get 2020 & 2021 to rebuild. He will have to show success (bowl games at the least) in 2022, 2023, and 2024 to get to 2025. There is always the possibility that Lane ends up being too good and then goes to another school.
I'd put the chances of Lane being the Ole Miss coach for the 2025 game at around 40%.
I, personally, hope he stays in Oxford forever and develops a rivalry with Mike Leach beyond just the Egg Bowl.
I'm cheering for you, Lane.
