Marlins Pitcher Carter Capps Has The Strangest Delivery You'll Ever See
FTW - Capps’ mechanics were recently called into question for the first time in his professional career while pitching for the Marlins’ Class AAA affiliate, the New Orleans Zephyrs. Two of his pitches were called automatic balls on account of his delivery, so the Marlins reached out to the league for clarification on what Capps was doing wrong.
From MLB.com:
“They just said they wanted me to make sure I dragged my foot and not get too elevated in the air, and make sure it’s more on a lateral plane,” Capps said. “As long as I do that, they have no problem with it. But it was very strange.”
Well, that’s one way to throw a pitch. Whatever works for you, I guess. I’m not here to play judge or jury. Just never seen anything like it before. But I love it. I love the hop, skip, and jump approach. Not just because it’s new and different, but because he’s taking everyone who says baseball players are out of shape and don’t get enough cardio and telling them to suck it. Carter Capps doesn’t want to hear your shit. So while I should hate him for being a division rival, I won’t. Anyone who changes the game like him, I respect. I put him up there next to Jackie Robinson.
