The Kentucky Derby Is Happening With 23,000 Fans In The Stands, No Infield And I Am So Damn Happy (Can I Get A Ticket Though?)
Oh hell yeah. I don't care if this isn't even 14% capacity. I don't care that the infield is closed. There are going to be fans in the stands for the most known race in the world. There's nothing better than (typically) the first Saturday in May as the horses get to the gate, My Old Kentucky Home being played and then the greatest 2 minutes in sports. Actually, the moment the horses turn for home and you have a bunch of horses bunched up fighting for the spot. Just the best.
I've said it before, but there's nothing like Derby weekend in Kentucky. Bars are open until 6am. You never know who you end up partying with at the bar. Oaks is the day for Louisville. That's the city special and that's legit a more fun day than Derby day. It doesn't matter if you sit in the infield (you're not sitting) or sitting in a real seat, you need to go to the Derby once in your life. It's such a perfect party weekend. So even without the infield and without the regular party scene, we're getting something.
Fans are going to get to watch Tiz The Law, who is an absolute star in the horse racing world. He already won the Belmont:
He just won the Travers this last weekend:
Now I just need to figure out how to get a ticket. The infield is awesome, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to sit in the nice section in this limited Kentucky Derby area. Can't wait for the Derby in September now. Can't fucking wait.
