In Honor Of Phil Hartman's Birthday, Here's My Favorite Interview He Ever Did Plus Some Other Awesome Moments
Today would’ve been Phil Hartman’s 72nd birthday. So when I saw this tweet honoring his memory this morning...
it immediately reminded me of one of my favorite interviews he ever did- Letterman in '94. It was during his last season at SNL and he was at the top of his game. He walked onto set in character as a "presidential cigarette lobbyist who didn't smoke."
Here it is:
I don't know why, but for some reason it always cracked me up. In general I think Phil was one of the funniest, most underrated comedians of all time. He could do it all- impressions, stand up, acting, deadpan. Remember how great his Bill Clinton was?…
Everything he did was incredible. You can YouTube more clips of him if you want and if not here's a mashup of him breaking character on SNL. Enjoy. Happy birthday, Phil. Gone but not forgotten…
