It Makes No Sense Whatsoever That The Sixers Have Not Already Hired Doc Rivers
The Sixers have already reached out to Doc Rivers. That's great. Awesome. Fantastic news. But here's the thing--Doc Rivers was fired at 5:16pm ET. It has now been over an hour that this man has been on the market. So I'm not quite sure why the Sixers have simply just "reached out" to Doc Rivers instead of doing the thing and hiring him already.
Mike D'Antoni does nothing for me. The only thing he has going for him is that he's not Ty Lue. I stand by my claim that you absolutely, positively, never in a million years can hire the man who had this happen to him to coach the Philadelphia 76ers.
You just can't.
So at least Mike D'Antoni doesn't have that going on. But either way. He's been here before. He already has the Sixers stink on him.
Which means that Doc Rivers is the only man for the job. He's got a winning pedigree (well, more of a winning pedigree than we're used to in Philly). He's well respected. He was able to get the best out of Tobias Harris so maybe that wouldn't be one of the biggest wastes of cap space in the NBA anymore. And it would put the Celtics' brain in a pretzel. Has he coached some underachieving teams in the past few years? Sure. But I cannot think of a single reason not to hire Doc Rivers over all the other options out there right now. So I'm sorry but "reaching out" isn't enough for the Sixers right now. They should have grabbed.
