This Offensive Lineman Taking a Hook and Ladder 75 Yards to the House Might Be the Best Football Play of All-Time
Everybody loves big man touchdowns. It's always fun to see one of the big boys scoop up a fumble and take it to the end zone or, if you're one of the lucky few, maybe have something drawn up for you near the goal line after four years of hard work.
But Amarillo (TX) High School offensive lineman Erik Gray is here to re-define the big man touchdown. His offensive coordinator is drawing up 75-yard hook and ladder plays and sending him off to the races. And I guess when your right tackle can move down the sideline like that, it's a pretty good call. Just look at that kid tear up the field.
Gray is listed at 6'3" and 275 pounds as a junior this season, but I want to know what his 40 time is. That kid is going to be running in the 4.8 range when he gets in a college strength and conditioning program. He's currently a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 15 guard in the 2022 recruiting class, with reported offers from Arizona State and Southern Miss.
This guy is my new favorite football player. Any time you can get an offensive lineman who can rumble like that, you have to do it. I can only hope he picks up an offer from the University of Tennessee and gets to block for current Vols running back Eric Gray. The memes would be elite.
