Steelers Put Maurkice Pouncey On The COVID List 2 Hours Before Kickoff Against Baltimore
In the words of Mike Tomlin "not ideal but such is life in our league in 2020". Definitely not the greatest news heading into Wednesday's 3:40 kickoff, but hell I'm just glad we're getting this game in and over with.
Couldn't handle another postponement of this one.
Now the question becomes who the Steelers will turn to to be the battery mate with Big Ben in a very important division matchup? Well, it looks like a couple options.
1. JC Hassenauer
My game Alex Kozora from Steelers Depot put out a good breakdown of what to expect from him on short notice:
This isn't the game you want to be your first NFL start even with the Ravens without Brandon Williams upfront. The good, at least, is that he has 57 starts at Alabama in the SEC. He's used to I guess the closest possible competition to the NFL as a college athlete in the SEC.
Luckily for the Steelers the rest of their lineman are good-to-go, and it's a strong group. Could we see the rookie Kevin Dotson in there getting snaps? He has a handful of starts under his belt from early this year when David DeCastro was out, but those starts were at guard not center.
It will be interesting to see how Pittsburgh handles this last-minute substitution. I hope to God they handle it well.
