STING JUST SHOWED UP IN ALL ELITE WRESTLING

IT'S STIIIIIIIING!

Please excuse the relative tardiness of this blog - I had a brutal headache earlier tonight, so I laid down and found myself falling asleep for hours! When I awoke, it was to a text from the Nate Dawg that said, simply, "Do you wanna blog Sting?"

My heart dropped immediately. No. Not Sting. Sting is one of the most iconic bassists/rockstars of our time, and I KNOW he ain't done just yet; 2020 can't take him from us. Fuck.

Wait - a quick Google search shows my man Sting is doin just fine.

Oh no. Wait a minute - not the wrestler Sting!

Uhh…talk about iconic! Sting was the only WCW action figure I had back in the day (as a staunch WWE fan) and one of my favorite characters in the history of wrestling; a legend in every sense of the word. I was even at his one and only WrestleMania match a few years ago. Tragic.

Oh wait - he ain't dead either. In fact, I bet he felt more alive tonight than he has in a while!

That's right - tonight on AEW Dynamite, Sting made his return to TNT for the first time in almost 20 years to confront Arn Anderson! Nostalgia overload!! If hearing Tony Schiavone get to call that return (which, to AEW's credit, was a legit shock/surprise by all accounts) didn't send shivers down your spine, you may not have one! This return had even me - someone generally very down on old timers coming back especially if they've experienced health scares in the ring - marking the fuck out when I watched it.

While I've got no interest in seeing him actually wrestle anymore, I've got faith that Sting will be booked smartly by the powers that be at AEW and kept safe (especially after the explosion of "cinematic" matches this year); I'm already picturing some kinda Sting/Darby Allen teacher/student program that could be amazing. Excited to see where they take it.

I'm sure Brandon will cover this (and more) on Rasslin this week, so make sure you subscribe now…..
