Crybaby Of The Week: Dan "Maybe We Should've Played Less Games" Mullen
Wahhhhhh. Wahhhhhh. Wahhhhhhhh.
Are you serious Dan Mullen? You lost as 23.5 point home favorites and blew your chance at the College Football Playoff because your arrogance carried over to the team, and one of your players threw an opponent's shoe a 20 yards down the field in a critical moment of the game. The fact that you have been eliminated from the discussion is no one's fault other than the Florida Gators. Yeah, if your only loss was to #5 Texas A&M and you went and beat Alabama next week, there's no doubt in anyone's mind that you're a playoff team. But to be sitting here with 2 losses, including one to 4-5 LSU at home, you're done.
To have the audacity to sit on the podium after losing as 23.5 point home favorites and say "We played 10 games" is quite possibly the most loser mentality I've ever seen in my entire life. Hand Dan Mullen his participation, please. He PLAYED 10 games. That's his response as to why Florida should still be considered for the playoff. The amount of games Florida played. That's an argument I'd expect from the crazy obsessed fans of the school that are so biased they can't see straight, but for a head coach, someone who is supposed to eat, sleep, and breathe competition, to go to the "well I know we lost twice but we played a couple more games than them" card after LOSING AT HOME AS 23.5 POINT FAVORITES, guys it's simply embarrassing.
Okay, let's flip it. Let's say Ohio State did get in their Maryland and Michigan games. Won them both by 50+ like they would have. But let's say they then lost as huge favorites in the Horseshoe to a mediocre 3-3 Minnesota team. Favored by 30 but lost at home. Would we be in the playoff? Hell no. We'd be 8-1 and Big Ten Champions but everyone would point to that embarrassing home loss against a .500 team. Ryan Day comes on the screen and goes, "Yeah, but look how many games we played". Oh my goodness, the outrage! But that's what Florida is saying.....AND they have an extra loss as well!!! They're 8-2. Goodbye, Florida. And honestly, if I was on the board down there in Gainesville, I'd be saying goodbye to Dan Mullen as well. "We played 10 games". Is this really what Florida football has become?
Buddy, if Ohio State could've played more game they would have. It's 2020. There's a global pandemic going on. You can't blame a team for having to cancel. Do you think Ohio State wanted to cancel vs Maryland.......? No. And no, the committee shouldn't even bring up Florida's name in the discussion, even if they beat Alabama. But I do think they could hand out an extra award for Dan Mullen to hang up in the training facility for all of his recruits to see:
