Fuck Yes! "Freaks And Geeks" Is Now Streaming on Hulu With Its Original Soundtrack (WITH APATOW UPDATE)

Some nice news to kick off the week for a change. The best one-season-and-done TV show ever made is now available to watch on Hulu. "Freaks and Geeks" was added to the streaming platform today with the original soundtrack intact. If you've already ripped through F&G once or twelve times, then you know how essential the music is to the viewing experience. If you have yet to watch this superstar-launcher, by all means check it out.

The show is about a pair of siblings in suburban Michigan in the early '80s, Lindsay Weir, a smart kid who finds herself among the freak set, and Sam, her dorky younger brother that falls into the geek category. The two hang out with a bunch of kids who will have a hand in the revolution that would soon hit American comedies.

F&G did a fantastic job of capturing the angst and pathos of, sigh, being a teenager and all that entails. It did so with a tremendous amount of heart and insight that is still foreign to network dramas about kids. But it wasn't all mopey dramatics like "My So-Called Life". F&G has lot of laughs and goofiness that pair well with the serious aspects.

F&G was infamously mishandled by NBC and never given a steady home (timeslot) or a real chance to succeed. It never sniffed a second season. Not only was it canceled, the remaining episodes weren't even aired on the same network. They played several months later on the Fox Family Channel. And that was only after a fan campaign. But I think maybe that was just as well.

"Freaks and Geeks" has gone on to become a cult sensation and one of the most enduring shows ever made. If it went onto to have a three or four season run on NBC, the first season may have become watered down and not have the same impact it does as the sole entry. Not to mention, the cast and crew may have gotten tied up with the show and not gone on to make THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN or KNOCKED UP or FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL.

"Freaks and Geeks" is perfect as it is. And now you can enjoy it in its purest form.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!
