I have been open for 14 years and from the beginning my goal was to have a clean and safe environment where everyone feels welcomed. I wanted to create a place where you enter as strangers and leave as friends. I am lucky enough to have built just that.
Who would have thought that 2020 would bring a pandemic? Covid restrictions in Louisiana change every day and it has been especially hard on bars. When the governor first issued mandatory closings I decided to give my staff a $500.00 bonus to get them through, of course at the time I didn't think this would last a month. The only bars that could open were the ones that also operated as a restaurant. So, I bought pizza ovens, coolers, and created a makeshift kitchen and attained a temporary restaurant license. I was able to open my doors! Then came more restrictions, curbside service only. So in order to provide curbside I had to create a curbside space. I purchased $800 tents and paid for permits with no income. Then queue the hurricanes. Three hurricanes hit the south, destroying our curbside setting. I have since replaced the tents. The stress is endless. Daily maneuvering, constant rule changes, the struggles of becoming a restaurant, with no space, loss of business due to customers not wanting to purchase food with each drink they order, occupancy cut in half, and most recently the mandate of no service past 11pm. Who knows what will come next. We have hosted fundraisers for the bartenders and I matched what they raised. I've done everything I can for this family we have created and any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
