Nerds At The Big 12 Publicly Reprimanded Chris Beard And Said He'll Face 'A More Severe Penalty' If He Freaks Out Again

[247] - “Coach Beard’s conduct was inconsistent with sportsmanship expectations in the Big 12 Conference,” Bowlsby said in the statement. “He is being issued a public reprimand, and put on notice that any future sportsmanship violations may lead to a more severe penalty.”

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize we weren't allowed to show emotion anymore. Fuck outta here with sportsmanship. I say it all the time, it's fake. I'm not talking about refusing to shake hands after a game or anything like that, I'm talking in the moment of the game, the idea of sportsmanship is bullshit. You don't help opponents up, you help teammates up. Now of course they are talking about this hilarious ejection by Beard:

I'd argue Beard showed extreme sportsmanship. He stopped mid-freak out to fist bump Bob Huggins. Sign of respect, sign of sportsmanship if I've ever seen it. And here's question, when will the refs be publicly reprimanded? This only happened because the refs blew a call. Hell, not even just one call. It was a horrendously officiated game - something that's far too common in the sport. There were 47 foul calls in a game. That's ridiculous. There's not video of the play in question, but essentially Beard was mimicking the fact Duece McBride fell to the ground which should have been a walk and got a timeout instead. Pretty big missed call! Where's the public reprimand for missing a game-changing call?

Spare me the people saying he shouldn't act like this. It's planned. He wanted to get run because Tech has been getting a brutal whistle lately. He wanted to make a statement and he did it right then and there. Oh and a more severe penalty? Like what? A suspension? Fine, then start publicly reprimanding officials since they want to be theatrical during games. Too often now officials are the story of the game and that needs to change. I stand, err sit, with Chris Beard.
