Taylor Swift Released The Re-Recording of "Love Story" Last Night And It Is Perfect.
There's a problem nowadays where people love to overthink everything.
Because we have all this constantly evolving technology and access to new knowledge, that makes the past obsolete, we love to fix things that aren't broken.
See: rebooted movies, television series, remastered music recordings, etc.
So when Taylor announced that she was going to stick it to that leech Scooter Braun by recording her pre-Republic catalog, I was happy, but also hesitant.
I'm a big Keep It Simple Stupid proponent.
Especially when it comes to music.
There's nothing worse than taking a piece of music that is a work of art, and remixing it for zero reason. Taking a song and making it better through a remix is one thing. But it seems labels and radio today have shifted to just reworking records that are already amazing. But I digress.
So I feared the same would apply here.
Antanoff, or one of Taylor's new producer buddies would get in her head that they could alter the versions of her classics and somehow "make them better."
But they didn't.
At least with "Love Story"
She first teased the new edition of the 2008 Fearless cut in December, with a snippet featured in an ad for dating site Match.com written by Ryan Reynolds.
Swift also announced this week that she has re-recorded Fearless as Fearless (Taylor's Version), adding size never-before-released songs from the vault to the 20-track original. Violin/guitar player Caitlin Evanson, who has toured and performed with Swift all over the world and provided backing vocals on Fearless, also thanked her longtime friend and musical compatriot, writing, "I'm so honored to again, be a part of this magic we made so long ago. Thanks a million."
If you listen to the original version you can tell the strings are much less pronounced. As are the drums.
Her voice is also noticeably younger.
In the "Taylor's Version" it is noticeable how they beefed up the instrumentals and cleaned up the mixing of everything. I keep trying to search who mixed/mastered this but can't find any info anywhere yet.
If this is a sign of what's to come for the rest of Fearless and her other albums then this is amazing. I already can't wait for her to re-drop Red. (Still her best).
