The Duke Way: Jalen Johnson Is Deciding To Opt Out (He's Quitting) With Just 6 Games Left In Its Shitty Season
Jalen Johnson, the top recruit for Duke decided to opt out with 3 weeks left in the season for Duke. Can we really blame him? I mean he's just taking after his coach when K decided to opt out of nonconference games with a couple left. Seems like K is just molding players to be just like him. Johnson plays just 23 minutes over the last 2 games, realizes Duke isn't going anywhere and bam 'opts out.' Let me go to ol Roy here who can perhaps put it better:
It wasn't exactly a surprise that Johnson 'opted out' considering these were some of the takes when he had his foot injury:
You just hate to see this for Duke. Instead of getting guys to compete and play a full schedule, their coach quit first and now you have at least one player 'opting out' with just six games left. It's officially Duke's year. Listen, I'm all for player safety and doing what's right, but when EVERYONE agrees this was a quit, you just know you're right. You also don't 'opt out' for anything this late in the season except to try and save draft stock. Just say what it is.
Like player, like coach.
And there it is. You have to wonder did K lose control of the locker room?
