LeBron Thinks There's No Doubt He Would Have Made The Cowboys Or Seahawks If He Decided To Try Out During The 2011 NBA Lockout

[The Athletic] - “I would have made the team,” he said. “I would have tried out, but I would have made the team. One thing about it, I don’t mind working for something, so if I would have had to try out for the Cowboys or the Seahawks, or if I’d have stayed home and went back home to Cleveland, I’d have tried (out), but I would have made the team. I just know what I’m capable of doing on the football field. Especially at that age.” James was just shy of his 27th birthday when the lockout ended on Christmas day.

Members of James’ inner circle had to talk him out of resurrecting the football career he had abandoned as a teenager.

I tried to come up with some sort of witty headline but I simply couldn't. The fact that LeBron thinks he would have easily made the Cowboys or Seahawks in 2011 is wild enough. The Seahakws were about to be an 11-5 team and 2 years away from winning the Super Bowl. But, sure, LeBron who was a good high school football player would have made the team. Just his inner circle stopped him. That's all.

Listen, LeBron has the size and speed and all that to play football. That's not exactly a hot take. The man is a freak athlete, but then I remembered this quote:

He didn't want to play college football because they hit too hard - what the hell did he think was going to happen in the NFL? They wouldn't hit him because he's LeBron? The man would get laid out any time he went across the middle. Even Gronk gets hit.

There's also no secret that every NFL receiver flops and complains for pass interference so he'd fit right in there. But how would this translate to the NFL?

I'm actually pissed this didn't happen. It would have been arguably the biggest story in sports history. Think about how big it was with MJ leaving to go play minor league baseball. We're talking about the NFL - the biggest sport in the country and LeBron, the biggest name in sports going to play. And if there's one team that would have done this it's the Cowboys. Jerry Jones fucking loves being in the news and doing wild things. I could see Jerry Jones on his yacht hearing that LeBron is working out and then watching his high school tapes and convincing himself that Jason Witten could 100% teach LeBron how to be the second tight end.

I really want to know what LeBron would have done on the Seahawks as a diehard Browns turned Cowboys turned Browns fan.
