HOW ABOUT A GAME WINNING TRIPLE PLAY ON FATHER'S DAY

DISCLAIMER: I refuse to type the words TRIPLE PLAY without capitalizing them. TRIPLE PLAYS deserve capitalization at all times.

What in the fucking world just happened? Like actually what just happened? Aroldis Chapman could not throw a strike to save his life, having walked the first two batters of the 9th inning as he tried to preserve a one run lead. The trainer came out to check on him with Boone while Wandy Peralta and Luis Cessa began to warm up fast. At this point you just accepted that the A's were going to at least tie this and send it to the bottom of the 9th right? Wrong. The Yankees decided to go with the ol' TRIPLE PLAY strategy to end things right then and there.

Turning a TRIPLE PLAY is cool and all but how about a game winning TRIPLE PLAY????

That is the THIRD TRIPLE PLAY turned by the Yankees since May 21st. The Diamondbacks have two wins in that span (h/t Max Goodman for that stat). You get one TRIPLE PLAY in a season and that's considered pretty cool. Two is bananas, three is completely unheard of and it's only June 20th. Does it help when Gio Urshela is over at 3rd with the glove and hands of a God? Sure does. The seamless step on 3rd throw to 2nd in a split second gets everything going as if you're just trying to turn two anyways. The man is a TRIPLY PLAY vacuum.

What a fucking win and what a week for the boys. Swept Toronto and took two of three from the A's. Not too bad. All the players and coaching staff attacked this week with a real sense of urgency and it showed. Is the offense there? Not quite, but the timely hits are coming more often than in April. Love to see it. Let's keep it going against KC on Tuesday with Luke Voit back in the lineup.

Enjoy the rest of your Father's Day
