Frankie Borrelli's Origin Story Is A Great Lesson On How To Prepare And Interview For A Job You Want
First things first- happy birthday to one Frankie Borrelli. The pizza king of New York is the big 2-8 and I couldn't be happier he didn't die yet. Frankie is a wonderful friend, co-worker, and teammate on the roller hockey rink. Even if he didn't pass to me on a 2 on 1, but that's besides the point. He's great and I want everyone to text him happy birthday. His number is 516-47...ok nevermind, that's a bad idea, but you get the point.
Secondly, the above story from his Behind the Blog is a great lesson. Everyone who wants to work here goes "I'm funny" or "I drink beer". But I realized in that pizza shop that Frankie was different. Just had that "it" factor. So when he told me he built his restaurant a website, I crammed it into his head as fast and firmly as possible "SAY THAT!". I knew if Frankie said his skills, self-taught no less, he could go far in this company. And wouldn't you know it, as the planets aligned, he interviewed with Dave, took my advice, and became Dave's guy on the god damn spot. He has since traveled the country, met every celebrity, made his dad into a rock star, and solidified himself as a pillar of Barstool. Is it all because I met him in a pizza shop? That's for you to decide.

My advice to you- learn skills. We get emails every day from people who go "I'll do literally anything to work at Barstool, I'll even clean the toilets". Well, we already have someone who cleans the toilets. We need video editors, graphic designers, producers, bloggers, personalities. Don't tell me "you'll do anything" and then do nothing about it. That's weak. You can learn Photoshop, Adobe Creative Cloud, and all the other programs via YouTube videos. Every recourse is out there if you want it bad enough.
KFC does a great job with the Behind the Blog. I love hearing people's origin stories, and Jeff D Shower Beans was on the latest, another man who excels between the walls of HQ.
