From Riot Police To An Awful Field, USMNT's Match In El Salvador Showed The Bullshit We'll Deal With To Make A World Cup

Last night was game 1 of World Cup qualifying. Plain and simple, we need to make the World Cup. We're a top-10 team in the world right now according to FIFA. Top three teams in the hexagonal make the World Cup, fourth goes to a playoff. There's absolutely no reason for us not to make the World Cup. So here's the thing. Last night we tied El Salvador 0-0 in El Salvador. It's not ideal, but it's also not the end of the world. We get Canada at home this weekend and if you get three there, we're fine. That's what we have to do. Why?

Last night showed the bullshit we have to deal with in order to make the World Cup. When we go to El Salvador, Honduras, Panama or Costa Rica, this is what we always have to deal with. They know how to use their home field advantage. It's a CONCACAF special. The riot police protecting Gio Reyna to Tyler Adams talking about the shitty conditions, we need to figure it out fast. We can't keep drawing, but we need points. Yes, there was no Christian Pulisic last night or Zach Steffen, I get that. But now it's time to beat Canada.

Honestly part of me is just jealous of this. We never have a massive home field advantage in the States. I'd love for teams to hate having to come here to play. Oh and if anyone scares Gio Reyna again, I'm going to have some mean words for them.
