Orioles Announcer Kevin Brown Paid Tribute To Michael K Williams With A Perfect Omar Little Home Run Call
After the death of Michael K Williams on Monday we have been seeing tons of tributes to The Wire legend roll in. Pictures, tweets, stories, videos, everything going around about the acting legend. But maybe my favorite tribute so far came from Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown. During last nights game, Austin Hays destroyed this pitch for his 16th homer of the year and almost cleared the entire lower bowl. Absolutely smoked it. It was the perfect time for Kevin to pay tribute to the actor who played maybe the biggest and best character in Baltimore TV history.
"THAT BALL IS MASSACRED BY AUSTIN HAYS! OH MY GOODNESS! YOU COME AT THE KING, YOU BEST NOT MISS!"
Now that's a home run call. Maybe Omar's most famous line, and he wasn't even on screen to say the line. He says it from the darkness after shooting Wee-Bey in the leg. Pretty bad ass thing to say after you watch a guy hit a ball 430 feet. It was a perfect tribute to Williams, defiantly made me chuckle when I heard him say it. Somehow this quote fits hitting a home run perfectly. An A+ tribute to arguably one of the best TV characters in history, well done Kevin.
I still have no clue why no one has ever used the Omar whistling "The Farmer In The Dell" as a walk out song out of the bullpen or something like that. Would be so damn intimidating and badass. Hell, if the Ravens had Lamar come out to this with all the lights out the entire stadium would go nuts. Possibly the most intimidating walk out song you could think of.
