Ladies and Gentlemen, It Is My Pleasure To Introduce You To The FIRST PLACE BROWNS!
Listen, there's no such thing as a bad win in the NFL. Anyone that came here to say that, you can click that little red X in the top corner of your screen and leave right now. Because this is a POSITIVE VIBES ONLY blog. Did we look as good as we did against the Chiefs last week? Nope. Did we look like a Super Bowl contender? Nope. But we got the win. Only 16 teams get to say that this week. And you know two teams that aren't going to be able to say that? The Steelers and Bengals. And you know what that means.......

FIRST PLACE BROWNS!!!
Yes, I will admit I was scoreboard watching in Week 2. And it feels good to be on top with just 15 games to play. But I will say this: the season is not over just yet. We cannot get complacent that we are in first place in the hands down toughest division in the NFL. There is a lot of football left to play. And if we play like we did today, I'm not sure how long we stay on top. Because we had to sweat it out against a Texans team that lost their starting quarterback, two receivers, and two defensive backs in this game alone. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills went 16 plays, 75 yards against us and we were in a ballgame until the very end. We need to play better. AND we need to call a better game. Nick Chubb having 11 carries is utterly unacceptable. My guy averaged 8.6 yards per carry. And as much as I love Kareem Hunt, how does he out-carry Chubb? I'm all for the 1-2 punch. But that's what it is…..a ONE - two punch. When someone has 11 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown, I think it's reasonable to suggest that we give him more touches. Especially when Jarvis and OBJ are both out with injury.
Which brings me to my next point: what are our thoughts on Baker? I saw some hate on Twitter because he has more interceptions (2) than touchdowns (1). But are my eyes deceiving me? I personally felt that he played outstanding. The man was 19 for 21 today. Two incompletions. Two. And he is 40 for 49 (81%) on the season. I'm ready to sign him to whatever extension he wants. The ending to this game had "same old Browns" written all over it and we found a way to win. I think Baker Mayfield's leadership is a huge reason why….and so does Coach.
Pay the man his money.
Anyways, we're on to Week 3. Bring on Da Bears. Justin Fields first start? Might make a half Ohio State / half Browns jersey for it. Then again, if the Buckeyes defense plays like it has been, I may be too embarrassed to show my face in public after we lose to Akron next week. Regardless, I do like hosting a rookie QB in his first start next weekend. The Bears didn't score an offensive touchdown once Andy Dalton exited the game this afternoon. I'm not concerned about their offense. We just need to find a way to score on their defense. So if we can get healthy, I like the Browns by double digits. Jarvis may be out, but it sounds like we've got other reinforcements coming…
