Mariners Fans Have Been Flooding Baltimore Charities With Donations After The Orioles Helped Put The Mariners Into A Tie For A Wild Card Spot
Really awesome stuff that the Mariners fans did overnight to the Orioles and some local Baltimore charities. After the Orioles embarrassed the Red Sox and took 2 out of 3 games from them which put the Mariners and Sox in a tie for the last Wild Card spot the Mariners fans came up with a great idea. A thread was started on the Mariners reddit and they suggested that they should donate to Baltimore charities as a "thank you" to the Orioles for beating the Sox and making it so the Mariners control their own destiny. The Mariners haven't made the playoffs since 2001 so they are ITCHING to get back there and the Orioles helped them out a ton, them returning the favor with charitable donations is an awesome move.
Some of the charities the Mariners fans have been donating to are very close to me, one for Mo Gaba, a friend of mine that we lost last year and a Baltimore legend who I've written about a few times. A lot of donations went to the University of Maryland Children's Hospital, and Trey Mancini even told me this morning he woke up to a lot of donations to his Trey Mancini Foundation. The Orioles Charitable Foundation had donations coming in, The Boys And Girls Club in Baltimore was receiving donations, some homeless shelters in the city had donations and all of it came out of nowhere overnight. Some really cool stuff here done by the Mariners fans and how can you not be rooting for them now? After they did all of this, I know I am. This is a real life #SomeThings moment. Special hat tip to those fans in Seattle.
