Our Short King Jose Altuve Tied Derek Jeter For Third All Time In Postseason Homers In A Career With 20
With this blast in the 6th inning Jose Altuve climbed into a tie with Derek Jeter for third place all time in postseason homers with 20. Not postseason homers for the Astros, not postseason homers since 2000, all time postseason home runs. I feel like people don't think of him as a legit power hitter but when it's the playoff he turns into a monster. That was his 20th bomb in his 68th playoff game, say what you want about him but he shows up when it matters. Whether he knows it's coming or not, he's going to hit the shit out of it. This was a no-doubter off the bat too. Decent timing too as it tied the game at 3.
The list now reads Manny Ramirez with 29, Bernie Williams with 22, and Derek Jeter tied with Altuve at 20. That is the top 3 postseason home run hitters of all time. Decent names on that list. Altuve's home run numbers are way more impressive than any of the other 3 just based on number of games played. Jeter played in 158 playoff games and hit 20, Williams played in 121, and Manny Ramirez did his damage in 111. There is a legit chance we see Altuve break the postseason record for homers in the next few years which is crazy to think about. Maybe one of the most feared playoffs sluggers EVER?!
Albert Pujols, Barry Bonds, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, David Ortiz, Jim Thome, Barry Bonds, Miguel Cabrera, Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones, Nelson Cruz, Jose Altuve has more playoff homers than all these guys. Score one for the little guys. Like him or not Altuve is a MONSTER in October.
