The Sopranos Writers Made James Gandolfini Film A Masturbation Scene & Thank God They Never Put It In The Show

NY Post- James Gandolfini wasn’t jerking around on the set of “The Sopranos.”

The late actor — who tragically passed away in 2013 — reportedly threw a “tantrum” after he was ordered to film a masturbation scene for the groundbreaking series.

According to the new book “Tinderbox: HBO’s Ruthless Pursuit of New Frontiers,” the show’s writers penned a scene in which Gandolfini’s character, Tony Soprano, pleasured himself in a gas station bathroom.

Gandolfini — who once claimed he showered after filming scenes for “The Sopranos” because he felt “dirty” — was said to be vehemently opposed to including the randy moment, which was written in partway through the sixth season.

However, he relented and filmed the frisky scene, before it was later cut from the final version of the episode.

Good for friggen James Gandolfini! Obviously the Sopranos is one of, if not the best, television shows of all-time and I couldn't love it anymore. And there's clearly a few good reasons that it is as good as it is with 2 of those being the exceptional writing on the show by a bunch of folks and that writing being acted by many great actors such as Edie Falco, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Tony Sirico, and undoubtedly the man himself James Gandolfini. So if the big man doesn't want to do a scene of Tony Soprano jerking off in a gas station the big man doesn't need to do a scene of Tony Soprano jerking off in a gas station. I am kind've shocked that they ACTUALLY got him to film it, but thank god those fuckers didn't put it in the show.

Not to mention this wasn't in say season 1 or 2 when he could've felt pressured into doing a crazy scene due to hoping the show gets more successful. This was in Season 6 when it was the biggest show on television! Those writers have some pairs of balls asking our king to do a jerk off scene in a gas station. No disrespect to James Gandolfini but who the hell needs to see him jerk off in a gas station bathroom? I sure as hell do not and I'm fairly confident he knew not many folks were all too interested in that. Just something that didn't need to be seen. When I think of Tony Soprano you obviously think of other heroic legends like Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, Forrest Gump, and so on and so forth. I need to see none of them jerk off in a gas station bathroom.

Shame on those Sopranos writers. Smh. I reiterate again, thank god that was not put in the actual show and that's a deleted scene that can forever be kept in the vault.
