The Titans Defense Embarrassed The Chiefs And Kept Them To Their Lowest Point Total Since 2012
This was an ass whooping from the Titans from the second the game started. A complete game from the Titans and an absolutely dominating performance by all sides of the ball. Easily one of the most fun Titans games I can ever remember, especially against this offense. They looked off all game, almost disinterested at times but give it up for the Titans defense because they came to play today. Limiting the Chiefs to 3 points in a game is insane, absolutely insane. Especially with 3 members of their secondary out for the game, I thought the Chiefs would FEAST on this defense. Instead the Titans held the Chiefs to their lowest point total since the last game of the 2012 season, the last game for the Chiefs not coached by Andy Reid.
The play calling from the Titans was *chefs kiss* and they exploited the Chiefs defense which may be one of the worst defenses these eyes have ever seen. How bad exactly? Well it's not great...
Those are breathtaking numbers to look at from this Chiefs team. They never had a fantastic defense, but it was never the bottom of the league bad like this. They actually did a damn good job of limiting Derrick Henry to 86 yards rushing and only a passing touchdown LOLOLOL. Ryan Tannehill did whatever he wanted today as he threw for 270 and a touchdown plus one on the ground, they got AJ Brown involved early with a TD catch and it was basically over from there. The Titans scored on their first 5 possessions to make it 27-0 at halftime and that was really all she wrote for Kansas City. First time the Chiefs had been shutout in the first half in their last 82 games, that's a pretty insane stat.
But we know the real story of the game was the Titans defense vs the Chiefs offense. Kansas City couldn't do ANYTHING against this defense. Zero. Zip. Zilch. They couldn't run, they couldn't pass, they couldn't score. I can't remember this Chiefs defense looking this plain and confused on offense. It's like they were shocked when they went down and had to play catchup, but that shouldn't be the case because they're used to coming back. Mahomes couldn't get comfortable at all in the pocket, was abused all day by the Titans defensive live. They were in his kitchen all day. Roughed him up, got him to fumble and really had their way with him.
The Titans ended up with more sacks on Mahomes than the Chiefs had points. That's something that will never happen again. And even when they weren't sacking him they were moving him off the spot and smacking him around. They didn't let him get comfortable. He threw a pick but it was off a deflection which is just bad luck but man was that offense bad today. After having just 19 all of last season the Titans have 17 sacks and the defensive line is feeling themselves. Tyreek Hill did nothing, they limited Travis Kelce, they didn't let any of the little fast fuckers do anything either. Domination. There was a scary moment towards the end of the game where Mahomes was tackled and fell right into Jeffrey Simmons leg which ended up folding Mahomes in half and crunching him up. Really scary looking.
Just a dominating performance from the first whistle to the last and you have to give credit to this Titans defense for shutting down the Chiefs high powered attack, forcing 3 turnovers and sacking Mahomes 4 times. Nice back-to-back wins over the Bills and Chiefs in a 6 day span. 5-2 at the top of the division is a nice spot to be, now just think how good they would be if they didn't face plant against the Jets.
PS. Super funny watching the Chiefs defenders literally go out of their way not to tackle Derrick Henry. Basically showing us how to give up on a play while still being in the play.
This Chiefs team is in troubleeeeeeeee
