Lacrosse Goalie Fights Continue To Always Be The Most Electrifying 30 Seconds In Sports
Hockey fights are always incredible. You know me, I love the fisticuffs. But the thing about hockey fights is that these guys are standing on a sheet of ice with steel blades attached to the bottom of boots. They're strong enough to stay up for a while, but a lot of times they're slipping around out there.
Regular box lacrosse fights are also awesome. Even more so because you get both dudes just standing on their own two feet. It basically becomes a street brawl at that point. The only thing missing would be shattering a couple of beer bottles over each other's head.
But a box lacrosse goalie fight? Well there you get a little bit of everything. You get that back alley street fight component. But you also get all the theatrics beforehand.
The amount of pads that box goalies wear is hilarious. It's all justified, for sure. I mean they're standing in front of this tiny little net and having guys rip a rubber projectile 100mph at their face all night. I'd want to be wearing as much padding as possible, too. But they always look like they're in a giant sumo costume. So to see these guys strip off the pads before the tilly just builds up that intensity. A warrior shedding his armor before going in for the final kill. You think it's a couple of units going after it at first and then it turns out it's just two regular dudes looking to duke it out.
And duke it out they did.
Couple of heavy shots landed cleanly by both guys here. That was awesome. Great scrap. And it was a full house in the penalty box afterwards.
Just a casual Saturday night in Albany.
